Nolvadex - is a nonsteroidal antiestrogen. First of all it is used as an antineoplastic medicine used for treating breast and endometrium cancer. It is also used for treating kidney cancer, soft tissue sarcoma, prostatic carcinoma, melanoma (in combination with radiation therapy and cytostatics) and induction of ovulation in patients with anovulatory infertility.

How to take Nolvadex?
The dosage of Nolvadex is detrmined individually. It is a peroral drug taken once or twice a day with some water. The average starting dose of Nolvadex is 10 mg 2-3 times a day; this dose could be increased to 10-20mg three times a day. The dose of 30-60 mg/day (which is reached gradually) could be used during one month. The duration of the therapy may last 2-3 years.
What are contraindications for Nolvadex?
Nolvadex is contraindicated in the period before menopause and during pregnancy; increased sensitivity to any ingredient in Nolvadex; pregnancy and lactation (there have been few cases of spontaneous abortions, inborn defects and intrauterine fetal death after using the medicine, though theer is no direct evidence that they were caused by Nolvadex); Nolvadex should be used with caution in patients with renal pathologies, diabetes, ophthalmological diseases and inopectic disorders in past history. There is no exact information whether Nolvadex is found in breast milk, that is why it is not recommended during breast-feeding period. The decision about stopping breastfeeding and starting Nolvadex should be based on the importance of the medicine to mother's health.
